Encouraging Leadership & Initiative – Inspiring fellow learners to step up and take ownership of projects that benefit the school community.
Acting as Mediators – Addressing conflicts, assisting with peer disputes, and helping to create a harmonious school atmosphere.
Supporting School Events & Initiatives – Organising and leading key school activities, from assemblies to community outreach programs.
Enhancing Communication – Serving as a liaison between learners, educators, and school management, ensuring that all voices are heard.

A Message from Head Peer Leader, Arabella Mohammed

"Being the Head Peer Leader is a dream I’ve had since primary school. Due to COVID-19, we never had the chance to experience leadership roles back then, but it was something I always admired. Entering high school, I initially felt overwhelmed, unsure if I would just blend into the crowd. But as time went on, I realised that I wanted to stand out, to do great things, and to leave a meaningful mark.

Achieving this position feels like the fulfilment of something I’ve longed for. Hearing my parents’ proud voices when my name was announced brought me immense joy and honour—it reminded me of how much this role means, not just to me, but to the people who believe in me.

This role is more than just a title. It is about living with responsibility, striving for excellence, and inspiring others to find their own greatness. It’s proof that with determination and self-belief, even the biggest dreams can become reality."

Arabella is determined to make a lasting impact. She has already made strides by establishing the school’s Debate Club, providing learners with a platform to voice their opinions, challenge perspectives, and build confidence. She hopes this initiative will become a legacy, empowering learners to think critically and lead with conviction.

"If you have an idea, don’t sit back—come forward. I’ve learned this myself. For so long, I hesitated, until I finally decided to take action and start doing great things. My leadership will remain driven, innovative, and focused on inspiring change.

At the same time, I want to prove that balance is possible. Even while managing responsibilities as Head Peer Leader, pursuing projects, and engaging in volunteer work, my academic results remain strong. It’s a reminder that with proper focus and dedication, leadership and academic success can go hand in hand."

A Message from Head Peer Leader, Rahel Roopen

For Rahel, being Head Peer Leader is not just an honour, but a great responsibility.

"Leadership is not just about making decisions, but about creating an environment where everyone's voices are heard. My role requires me to be approachable, flexible, and innovative in addressing the challenges that learners and educators face.

I look forward to working alongside the school management, educators, executive committee, and my fellow Peer Leaders to promote a positive school culture—one where every learner feels safe, supported, and valued. My goal is to leave a lasting impact that enhances the learning experience for all at Heather Secondary."

Looking Ahead

The 2025 Peer Leaders have already begun their journey towards making Heather Secondary School a beacon of excellence in leadership and discipline. With Arabella, Rahel, and their dedicated Executive Team leading the way, there is no doubt that this year will be one of growth, empowerment, and progress.

Heather Secondary looks forward to witnessing the impact of these young leaders as they motivate, guide, and inspire their peers to strive for greatness.
