Akhona Ndawondwe: Powerlifting Prodigy
Grade 12 learner Akhona Ndawondwe has proven his strength—both physically and mentally—through his incredible performance in the powerlifting arena. After clinching 1st place in the 66kg category and earning the Best Sub-Junior Lifter award at the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Powerlifting Championships, he advanced to the national stage. At the South African Powerlifting National Championships, Akhona placed 2nd in the Junior category and 3rd in the Open category, securing a place on the South African national team. His rise in this demanding sport is a testament to his discipline and perseverance.




Seth Rajah: Martial Arts Marvel
In the world of martial arts, Grade 10 learner Seth Rajah is quickly establishing himself as a promising competitor. Already holding a brown belt in Karate and a white belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Seth recently competed in the Submission Kings No Gi tournament in Johannesburg, earning 2nd place in his division. From his powerful shot put performance at the inter-house athletics meet to the intensity of the Jiu-Jitsu mat, Seth's athletic journey is one of focus and relentless improvement.
Jayden Reddy: 14-Year-Old Visionary Behind Piston Media
Entrepreneurship is alive and thriving at Heather Secondary, thanks to Grade 9 learner Jayden Reddy. Passionate about photography and automobiles, Jayden founded Piston Media, a photography business that captures the essence of cars with striking visual storytelling. His dedication led to an interview on Play ZN radio, where he shared his journey and inspired many with his drive. With an expanding portfolio and growing recognition on Instagram, Jayden is proving that innovation and success start young.


Aryik Bhundoo: The Multi-Talented Maestro
A shining example of versatility, Aryik Bhundoo, a Grade 12 learner, excels in academics, sports, and the arts. He proudly represented Heather Secondary in the Hindi Eisteddfod, earning praise from dignitaries and peers alike. On Lotus FM, Aryik mesmerised listeners with a live Krishna flute performance and discussed his dreams of pursuing a career in Information Technology. He is also a provincial table tennis player and a skilled musician, playing the flute, keyboard, and tabla with finesse. Aryik’s multidimensional talents reflect a deep commitment to excellence.


Heather Secondary's Budding Artist: Judah Ruiters of 12G
Judah Ruiters, a talented Grade 12 learner at Heather Secondary, discovered his passion for drawing in Grade 2, inspired by his father's sketches. What began as copying from memory evolved into a refined ability to draw freehand, blending intuition with discipline. Judah draws inspiration from fictional characters, personal imagination, and the support of his cousin, with whom he shares a deep artistic bond. Motivated by the work of others, he constantly strives to improve. Whether as a career or a lifelong hobby, Judah’s art is here to stay—a testament to his dedication, creativity, and humble spirit.


Heather Secondary Celebrates Rising Football Stars
We proudly congratulate Grade 9A learners Mohamed Yaaseen Ahmed and Inayath Mooidhoo for representing STAXC in a prestigious 3-day football tournament at Hartley School in Durban. Competing against top teams from Pietermaritzburg, Newcastle, and Verulam, both showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship. Mohamed played a crucial role in the U17 team, reaching the Premier Cup quarter-finals, while Inayath’s U15 team finished as runners-up in the Championship Cup, both after tense penalty shootouts. Their dedication, teamwork, and perseverance reflect the core values of Heather Secondary. We’re proud to support their continued growth on and off the field!
