Our first major gathering under this initiative is the Alumni Homecoming, a reunion and family fun day marking Heather's 45th year. Heather Secondary School opens its gates to 45 years of alumni, educators, and family. The Homecoming, the school's flagship alumni event for its 45th anniversary year, runs from 11h00 to 15:30 on Saturday and 11h00 to 16:00 on Sunday. Gates open at 10:00.
Saturday belongs to alumni from 1981 to 2005. Sunday belongs to 2006 to 2025. Each day carries its own programme: guided tours of the school in small groups, tug-of-war and energising activities, paired with addresses from former principals Mr D. K. John and Mr A. Moodley, alongside Principal Mr S. Reddy. Heather's alumni teachers will also share their experiences from both sides of the desk. Saturday's programme will be broadcast live by Hindvani on 102.3 FM, bringing the day to listeners beyond the school gates.
The entertainment lineup runs the full length of the day. Expect the Heather Secondary School Choir, traditional and modern dance performances, an Amapiano dance group, and musical sets from Daniel that take you down memory lane. Heather's own Class of 2021 talent, Thabiso Mkhize, takes the stage too, performing with Yvngogz. The event's headline act is Lotus FM's Koobeshen Naidoo, star of The Dingalings and e.tv's Imbewu, performing alongside Heather's own. Sunday's programme closes with a Women's Day celebration and a lucky draw of decadence. You've got to be in it to win it.
Heather's motto, "By Concord and Harmony," runs through the whole weekend. Whether it's a Class of 1985 matriculant meeting a Class of 2005 leaver for the first time, or a retired educator walking the same corridors they once taught in, the Homecoming is built around one idea: that everyone who passed through Heather's gates still belongs to it. They are calling it The Heather Circle and hoping to build connections for life!
Food stalls, souvenirs, and activities for the whole family run alongside the programme both days.
Remember that registration is compulsory and space is limited. Having your ticket in hand ahead of time will make Saturday and Sunday run smoother for you.

About our Alumni initiative, The Heather Circle, and our Alumni Homecoming Event
Heather Secondary School has always measured itself by the people who pass through its gates, not just the years in between. The Heather Circle is how we keep that connection alive after matric.
Join The Heather Circle
The Heather Circle exists to keep alumni in touch with the school and with each other: former learners, former educators, and the families who supported both. It's a standing link back to Heather, not a one-off event. Membership is currently open only to Heather Secondary matriculants. To join, register your details at forms.cloud.microsoft/r/5MtGD8qiX5. Once we've confirmed you against our school records, you'll be added to the Circle. This verification step keeps the community genuine and limited to those who share this history.
