Farewell Mrs Erradu! We miss you already!

1/31/2025

It is with both joy and a tinge of sadness that we announce the retirement of Mrs. Rae Erradu, a cherished member of the Heather Secondary School family. Mrs. Erradu, our esteemed Department Head for Technology, has been an integral part of our community, shaping young minds and inspiring colleagues and students alike since 1989.

Throughout her remarkable tenure, Mrs. Erradu has exemplified dedication and excellence in education. She leaves behind an unmatched legacy, including a stunning record of achieving a 100 percent pass rate in the National Senior Certificate exams for Consumer Studies for 40 years! Her profound impact extends beyond classroom instruction, as she has been a pivotal figure in curriculum development, and served with distinction as a marker, senior marker, and Deputy Chief Marker for Consumer Studies.

Mrs. Erradu’s leadership and mentoring have enriched our school culture significantly. She was not only a dedicated educator but also a visionary organiser, leading initiatives such as the debutantes functions, matric farewell functions, and the pioneering publication of our first grade 12 yearbook. Her efforts in establishing careers evenings and a girls' cricket team have left an indelible mark on our school’s extracurricular landscape.

Her moral and ethical compass, drawn from the profound teachings of her late mother and spiritual guidance from her pastor, has been a beacon for all at Heather Secondary. Her life’s philosophy, inspired by Psalm 1, has taught us the importance of walking in wisdom and integrity.

As Mrs. Erradu embarks on this new chapter, we extend our deepest gratitude for her years of service, her unwavering support, and the countless contributions she has made to our community. While we will miss her presence in our daily lives, her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.

We wish Mrs. Erradu a joyful and fulfilling retirement, filled with the same love, support, and guidance she has provided to so many throughout her illustrious career.

Thank you, Mrs. Erradu!
