Heather Secondary Celebrates Unity and Spirit at Annual Games & Cultural Day
9/11/2025

Heather Secondary School recently came alive with colour, excitement, and camaraderie during its Annual Games Day, a highlight on the school calendar that perfectly blended fun, teamwork, and school pride. Learners filled the fields and courts with energy as they competed in volleyball, netball, chess, soccer, table tennis, and even a lively spelling bee. Each game was a showcase of talent and enthusiasm, as learners cheered one another on and celebrated the joy of participation.
The atmosphere reached new heights of excitement when the Grade 12s took to the field for their much-anticipated novelty obstacle course, before closing off the programme with the crowd-favourite tug-of-war — an event that had the entire school rallying in support. Not to be outdone, the educators joined the action, taking on the 12G boys in a friendly volleyball match and showing that experience and teamwork truly pay off, securing a hard-earned victory. The day was soundtracked by fantastic music from Daniel Chetty, DJ Laitin, and crowd-favourite DJ Kass, while everyone enjoyed a tasty wors roll and a refreshing cool drink to keep the fun going.
In the spirit of Heritage Month, the event was paired with a vibrant Cultural Day celebration, where learners proudly showcased their heritage through colourful traditional attire and joyful expression. The combined celebration was more than just a day of sports and culture — it was a reflection of Heather Secondary’s values of unity in diversity, excellence through participation, and the power of shared experiences. It was a day that reminded everyone that at Heather, learning, culture, and community go hand in hand — creating memories that last long after the final whistle.
