Heather Secondary School Shines at the Umgeni Debating League 2025

Heather Secondary School’s talented debaters made their mark at the Umgeni Debating League (UDL) 2025, proudly representing the school throughout the academic year and showcasing confidence, critical thinking, and teamwork at every round. Competing against several local schools, both our junior and senior teams delivered outstanding performances, tackling challenging topics with clarity, insight, and conviction. Their hard work and preparation shone through as they consistently impressed judges and audiences alike with their eloquence and persuasive arguments.

The finals, held on 6 September 2025 at Eddels Sports Club, brought an exciting close to the season. The junior team displayed incredible skill and determination, earning the position of runners-up, while the senior team rose to the occasion and claimed the coveted title of 2025 UDL Champions. These results are a testament to the learners’ discipline, teamwork, and passion for the art of debating — qualities that continue to define the Heather Secondary spirit.

Special recognition goes to Cian Jacobs, Joshua Brigmohun, Kaivalya Sewraj, Arlaiyah Naidu, and Arabella Mohammed for their exceptional presentations and speaking abilities. Their eloquence, confidence, and commitment were instrumental in Heather Secondary’s success and serve as an inspiration to their peers.
