Heather Secondary’s Debate Teams Dominate in Round 2 & 3 of the Umgeni Debate League
3/8/2025

Heather Secondary School’s debate teams continue to shine, proving their prowess in the Umgeni Debate League (UDL) as Rounds 2 and 3 took place at Raisethorpe Secondary School on 8 March 2025. Competing with confidence and skill, all three of our teams—one junior team and two senior teams—emerged victorious in both rounds, a testament to their hard work, preparation, and critical thinking abilities.

Each debate was highly competitive, with teams tackling complex motions, engaging in dynamic rebuttals, and demonstrating exceptional presentation skills. The learners gave it their all, delivering well-researched arguments with clarity, confidence, and conviction. Their outstanding performances not only secured victories but also solidified Heather Secondary’s reputation as a formidable force in the league.
The dedication and commitment of our debaters are commendable, and their continued success is a reflection of their teamwork, perseverance, and passion for public speaking. We are immensely proud of our learners and look forward to the next rounds where they will once again take to the podium to represent Heather Secondary with excellence, in their bid to enter the provincial competition.
A special thanks to the educators and mentors who have guided and supported our debaters on this journey.
The future of debate at Heather Secondary has never looked brighter!
